Fort Luxembourg in Elwood.  The name was given to the facility in appreciation of the relationship the City of Elwood enjoys with the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.  The Fort is the home of Doniphan County Services & Workskills, AIM-High - an Alternative High School, and is the Travel, Tourism and Gift Shop for Doniphan County.  Located off of Highway 36 on Roseport Road

Ma Hush Kah Museum in White Cloud was originally a school building for African Americans, was built between 1871 and 1872 costing $12,000 featuring 4 classrooms as well as closets and cloakrooms.  Today the building is a museum housing the collections of the Ma Hush Kah Historical Society.  It is located at the corner of 6th and Main Street and is listed on the National Register

 

Nelson Rogers Home in Troy is the first and oldest house remaining in Troy.  Local legend states that Abraham Lincoln walked down the street to visit his friend, Sidney Tennant located at 138 E. Walnut on the square.  Restored by the Doniphan County Historical Society.

 Irvin Hall, Highland Community College is the oldest college building still in use in Kansas.  Founded in 1837

 Native American Heritage Museum

Tall Oaks Monument in Troy, sculpted by Peter Wolf Toth was sculptured from a burr oak log 67 inches in diameter and at the time it fell stood 100 feet tall.  It now stands 27 feet.

 

Doniphan County Courthouse located in Troy was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.  The courthouse built in 1904 is the fourth to serve Doniphan County in Troy.  The county offices outgrew the temporary first courthouse by 1858; the second building burned down, by 1900 the third courthouse was deemed too small and was razed for the present building.

 

    A monument at Bellmont Cemetery, considered a Pioneer Cemetery, was dedicated in 1915 to those who gave their lives in the Civil War.  The      monument stands facing West from a high bluff in Wathena along the Missouri River. It is catalogued in the Smithsonian Museum of Art.

 

Boat Ramp at White Cloud has restrooms, fish cleaning station, and is the site for the Lewis and Clark Pavilion located at the foot of Main Street and Highway 7.

Pete the Pig Monument in White Cloud. In 1910, ten-year old Wilbur Chapman sold a prized pig to raise money for a leper colony. Coin savings banks were created in the shape of pigs, manufactured, and sold, resulting in the origination of the "Piggy Bank" as we know it today. Seen on White Cloud's Main Street.

Native American Heritage Museum at Highland Mission Historic Site is located two miles East of Highland and operates as a Kansas State Historical Society museum featuring Native American culture, history, and folk art. It includes a hands-on center for children and adults, and offers workshops, tours, and a gift shop.
